📘 Overview
The Shifts feature in Canary7 allows warehouses to manage and report user activity within specific working time windows.
It helps supervisors define start and end times for each shift, control when users can log in or stay active, and view performance or job activity for each user per shift.
🧭 Navigation Path
Workbench → Shift Enquiry
Here, you’ll see three tabs:
Shift – view overall shift setup and timing.
Shift User – view which users worked during a shift and their performance metrics.
Activity – view detailed job activity that occurred during each shift.
💡 If you don’t see these tabs, ensure you have the correct role permissions for Shift Enquiry.
🗓️ 1. Shift Tab
This is where each shift’s time window and grace period are defined.
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Shift Number / Name | Unique ID and label for the shift (e.g. Friday AM 26-09). |
Status | Shows whether the shift is Open or Closed. Closed shifts cannot record activity. |
Scheduled Start / End Date | The planned shift duration — e.g. 07:00 to 15:30. |
Allowed Start / End Date | The grace window around the scheduled time. Users can only log in or stay active within this window. |
Created At / Created By | Audit trail information for when and who created the shift. |
🧠 How it works:
Scheduled defines when the shift should officially run.
Allowed defines when users are actually permitted to log in and remain active.
If a user tries to log in before the Allowed Start, access will be denied.
When the Allowed End time passes, any logged-in users are automatically logged out of Canary7.

❓ FAQs
Q: Do Shifts automatically log users out?
Yes. When the Allowed End time passes, Canary7 ends any active user sessions.
Q: What’s the difference between “Scheduled” and “Allowed”?
Scheduled defines when the shift should occur. Allowed defines when Canary7 permits users to log in or remain active — essentially a grace period.
Q: Can multiple Shifts overlap?
This is still being verified. Current behaviour suggests users belong to one active shift at a time.
Q: Where can I see productivity by shift?
Use the Shift User tab for user performance and Activity for job-level detail.
