Understanding Adjustment Type
What is Adjustment Type?
Adjustment Types in Canary7 define the type of inventory change being performed. For example, quantity changes, status updates, or location movements. These are used to categorise how inventory is being updated within the system, and they can be applied manually or through system-driven processes.
Adjustment Types focus on what action is being taken (e.g., adjust quantity, change location), while Reason Codes (covered separately) explain why the action is being taken.
Canary7 includes several core Adjustment Types:
1. Adjustment
Changes the quantity of inventory, either increasing or decreasing it.
Used for correcting discrepancies, handling damaged stock, or manually updating inventory levels.
Example: Subtract 3 units from stock after finding damaged items during a stock check.
2. Status Change
Updates the status of inventory (e.g., from Available to Held).
Helps control which stock can be allocated or picked based on its current condition or purpose.
Example: Change stock to Quality Control to prevent allocation while it's under inspection.
3. Transfer
Moves inventory from one location to another within the warehouse.
Ideal for reorganising zones, bin-to-bin transfers, or relocating slow/fast movers.
Example: Move inventory from bulk storage to a pick face without running a replenishment plan.
4. User to Location
Returns stock that is currently with a user (e.g., picked and currently with the user) back into an inventory location.
Used for error correction when stock is removed from workflow and needs to be returned.
Example: An order that is partially picked is returned to the pool. The picker may need to transfer these items to their inventory locations.
Accessing Adjustment Type
Within the Navigation menu, click on the search bar and type and click on "Adjustment Type". Adjustment Type is also in Configuration, under Functional Area Setup > Inventory Control Setup > Adjustment Type.
The most optimal way to utilise inventory adjustment is directly from Inventory Enquiry. This allows users the ability to preform Multi-Adjustments by selecting multiple items, clicking the ellipsis menu and selecting Multi-Adjustment as demonstrated below:

You will then have the ability to adjust the quantity, status or location of each item that has been selected, depending on the desired adjustment type.
