Understanding Putway Profile
What is a Putaway Profile?
A Putaway Profile is a configured set of parameters that governs how Putaway jobs are executed once products have been checked in and assigned a storage location. It allows warehouses to tailor the Putaway process based on operational needs, ensuring the right level of control, efficiency, and user experience.
Putaway Profiles can be customised at a granular level, including:
Job Zones, ensuring operatives only handle Putaway jobs in relevant areas of the warehouse.
Verification Requirements, specifying which fields or steps must be confirmed during the process.
Examples:
Senior operatives may have streamlined profiles with fewer verification steps to speed up execution.
Different profiles can be configured for specific zones (e.g., high bay vs. fast pick) to reflect zone-specific processes or equipment requirements.
Accessing Putaway Profile
Within the Navigation menu, click on the search bar and type and click on "Putaway Profile". Putaway Profile is also in Configuration, under Receiving Profile Setup > Putaway Profile.
Add Putaway Profile
Click on the Red Action Button, this will bring up a drop-down menu, and select "Add"
General Tab
Within a Putaway Profile, you can toggle the following three options to customise the execution flow:
1. Drive Command to Machine Location
Used exclusively in warehouses integrated with automated Warehouse Control Systems (WCS). When enabled, this sends a drive command to the relevant automation hardware, directing it to the assigned storage location. This is not used in standard manual operations.
2. Change Location
Enables operatives to manually override the system-assigned location during Putaway. This can be useful when:
The assigned location is blocked or inaccessible.
The operator identifies a more suitable nearby location.
3. Allow Partial Putaway
Provides flexibility by allowing items to be partially put away when full allocation is not possible. This is especially useful when:
The destination location does not have enough capacity for the full quantity.
Items need to be split across multiple locations.
Operational priorities require delaying the completion of the whole replenishment job.
When disabled, the system enforces full completion, the entire quantity must be stored in the assigned location before the Putaway job can be closed.
Job Zones Tab
Using the checkboxes, select the Job Zones needed for this putaway profile. This allows the flexibility to create various profiles for specific areas within the warehouse.
Job Type Tab
Ensure that the Put Away check box is selected
Verifications Tab
These are the verifications to ensure that the Putaway person has put the product in the correct location.
Click on the verifications you need for this profile, and when you are satisfied with your profile, click on the Submit button to create the profile.
