Understanding Item Group
What is Item Group?
Item Group is a method of categorising items into separate groups within the WMS. This classification can be based on various shared characteristics to support operational efficiency and rule configuration.
An example would be grouping items by physical size, such as:
"Large Items"
"Medium Items"
"Small Items"
Another example would be using Item Groups to categorise items by product type where relevant. For instance, you might separate items into groups such as:
"Electronics"
"Apparel"
"Perishables"
"Fragile Goods"
This allows users to apply rules, workflows, or selections based on shared item characteristics, supporting tasks such as allocation, picking strategies, and inventory segmentation.
