What is Allocation Assignment Master?
The Allocation Assignment Master in Canary7 allows you to control which Allocation Rule is applied to a shipment by evaluating a set of dynamic criteria. This ensures the right Allocation Strategy is applied automatically, based on your operational requirements.
This feature plays a critical role in the pre-picking phase, helping you refine allocation behaviour for different customers, carriers, shipment types, and more.
Key Concepts
You can configure multiple Allocation Assignment Rules.
Each rule checks a set of defined criteria and applies a corresponding Allocation Rule when those criteria are met.
Rules are executed as part of aWaveflow, specifically during the Allocation step, before picking jobs are created.
Tabs Overview
General Tab

Allocation Tab

📝 Note: Allocation Rules must already exist in your system before linking them here.
Criteria Tab
Use this tab to build the logic that determines when this allocation rule should apply.
Criteria use the standard Column / Operator / Value setup.
You can create multi-criteria conditions to refine when an Allocation Rule is used.
Available Columns:
Carrier Name
Carrier Service
Company ID
Warehouse ID
Item Category
Customer Code
Shipment Number
Shipment Type
Example Use Case:
To apply a specific Allocation Rule for express shipments using a particular carrier for Ecommerce orders:
Column | Operator | Value |
---|---|---|
Carrier Name | Equals | DPD |
Carrier Service | Equals | Express |
Shipment Type | Equals | Ecommerce |
This rule ensures that high-priority express shipments are allocated using the most appropriate stock selection strategy.
Summary
The Allocation Assignment Master is a powerful tool for automating and customising how inventory is allocated to shipments. By mapping Allocation Rules to shipment-specific criteria, you ensure optimal stock usage and adherence to customer, carrier, and operational preferences.
